Create a Model of a Sukkah
Family Challenge – Year 2
In RE, Year 2 have been learning about the Jewish Harvest celebration of Sukkot. At this time, Jewish families make a Sukkah in their gardens to give thanks to God for all the crops and to remember when their ancestors escaped slavery in Egypt with Moses.
We invited the children in Year 2 to work as a family to create a model of a sukkah over half term.
A sukkah must have these things:
- 3 walls
- The roof must be made out of something which grew from the ground (branches, leaves etc)
- It must be possible to see at least 3 stars in the night sky through the roof
We were very impressed with all the amazing models that were created. Mrs Smart, our RE lead, visited the classes to look at the models and choose a winner from each class. The children also shared their work in our Praise Worship.
