Notification of positive COVID case at school
Dear parents and carers
We’ve received confirmation today that a child in one of our Year 2 classes has sadly tested positive for Corona Virus.
A small number of children within the affected class have been identified as possible close contacts of the positive case and will now be required to self-isolate for 10 days.
Parents and carers of children in the affected class have been contacted and advised accordingly. The classroom will now be deep cleaned.
School remains open as normal to all other children; all unaffected children should continue to attend as normal.
I have attached a letter below from Public Health England which provides more information for parents.
We’ve not had a case in school for some months; with cases again rising in the local area and increasing concerns regarding the new Delta variant of the virus, it’s important to remind parents to do what you can to reduce the risk of community transmission.
Please remember to maintain adequate distancing from others when entering the school site to drop off/ collect your child. Avoid crowding at pinch points like the gates, take your time, spread out, use the grass if pathways are busy.
Do all you can to avoid your child mixing with others from different Year groups, keep them with you. Children are kept within strict class and year group bubbles at school. Help us to maintain this.
Make sure your child washes their hands before and after school.
Wear a face covering when entering the site.
Thank you for your ongoing support with managing these challenging issues.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS AND CARERS
School has just been informed by the Local Authority that in August, traffic parking enforcement cameras will be installed on Lansdowne Avenue. These are to lawfully enforce the traffic regulations for the yellow zigzag lines painted on the road in the run up the school gate. The signage here makes it clear that motorists should not stop or park on the lines during the current specified hours of 8.00am to 9.30am and 3.00pm to 4.00pm (these could change following installation). Cameras are currently in place at other local schools, like: Signhills, Old Clee and Waltham Leas Academies to enforce their zigzag line regulations. The new cameras will have new signage installed to make drivers aware of their presence.
Should motorists choose to park or stop on the zigzag lines during the specified hours, they will receive a fixed penalty fine of £70. This will be sent to the owner of the vehicle.
There will be an initial two week warning period, whereby anyone breaking the regulations will receive a warning letter, following this, penalty notices will be issued.
Following this, similar enforcement cameras will be installed on Portland Avenue. This will take place sometime in the Autumn Term.
We receive lots of complaints from both parents and local residents regarding parking problems. As parents will know, school has no power to enforce the Highway Code, and we regularly appeal to people to adhere to the regulations to protect the children and respect our neighbours. This new initiative, when complete, should hopefully improve the situation, making it much safer for everybody as they enter and exit the school site.
